Advanced WMS Features
In addition the basic features such as storage, warehouse control, picking, retrieval and goods issue, many WMS systems offer advanced funtionality. The following criteria define a well-designed system:
- A modern warehouse management system must interface seamlessly with internal corporate systems as well as external ERP systems.
- The design is modular, parametrised by the customer, and is implemented in a modern, object-oriented programming language.
- Seamless integration with any database system.
- XML as preferred format for exchange of data.
- Detailed display of all information and processes in the wareouse, together with dialogue and field-specific direct help.
- Management of and support for article numbers, article identifiers, storage strategies and dimensional information.
- An overview of warehouse-wide reports, order quantities and replenishments. Support for replacement or substiture articles.
- User interface features such as "Copy & Paste", "Drill-down", "Drag & Drop" and shortcuts.
- Servicing both remotely and on-site.
