  • 1985 The success story of CIM GmbH and their warehouse management software PROLAG®World begins in the year 1985. This is the year when engineer and company founder, Fritz Mayr, first writes the PROLAG® for warehouse management and control programme in C. The first installations are run on Unify database systems and can already boast screen-controlled storage and retrieval systems and Megamat carousels.

  • 1987 Mayr replaces Unify by Oktopus, a relational database developed by CIM. Oktopus is designed for the real-time requirements of automated warehouses and is verified in extensive practical testing using real data.

  • In 1988, the PROLAG® warehouse management software is ready to be implemented in automated warehouses. A year later, engineers at CIM develop a picking control system, enabling certain processes to be controlled over a wireless data interface.

  • 1993 marks a further milestone in the history of CIM. PROLAG® for Windows is released and implemented by numerous customers in the years to follow.

  • 1998 CIM GmbH becomes a certified partner of SAP, enabling smooth communication between PROLAG® and SAP/R3 Systems.

  • 1999 Developers at CIM GmbH make a major breakthrough. The PROLAG® software is redesigned and implemented in JAVA. This not only introduces hardware independence but also internet capability and simpler upgrade options. A new software solution is Born – PROLAG®World. Ever since, CIM GmbH has been at the forefront of warehouse management software: fully browser-based and web-based, database and platform-independent.

  • 2001 PROLAG®World´s baptism of fire comes in the form of the very first installation in a distribution centre near Munich owned by Keller & Kalmbach – the warehouse went successfully into operation in the spring of 2002. This was followed by further installations of at various new customers.

  • 2003 A large number of new functions are released in PROLAG®World including warehouse controlling, warehouse billing and client administration. The software also received an integrated, certified IDOC interface, seamlessly enhancing SAP systems with additional logistics functionality.

  • The following year, 2004, sees the release of PROLAG®World 1.5. Able to serve both as a hosting system and as an application for carriers and 3PL providers, the new version contains additional modules for even more effective and efficient material flow. These include the hazardous materials module, the packing area, a package service manager, functions for block, compact, drive-in and flow storage and an Excel Interface.

  • 2005 CIM GmbH releases PROLAG®World 2.0. This version also contains new functions such as redesigned owner and client administration, a dispatch area, extended warehouse billing functionality and a mobile I-point in the picking control system. For the second time, PROLAG®World is validated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics.

  • 2006 CIM GmbH becomes a Microsoft Gold Partner.

  • 2007 In time for PROLAG®World’s five-year anniversary, CIM GmbH releases version 2.1. Central to this release is a move away from being exclusively a warehouse management system to becoming a full-service provider. The core module of PROLAG®World remains the warehouse management module with numerous new functions in the areas of controlling, monitoring, billing, shipping and customs. This gives customers a decisive competitive advantage in staying one step ahead in an increasingly tough market. Again, this release is validated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics.

  • 2008 CIM starts a joint research project with the Technical University of Munich.

  • 2009 CIM extends the modules for data separation: Thanks to site and owner administration, logistics centres at different sites with different stock owners can be managed simultaneously.

  • 2010 marks an important step towards standardisation: For the first time, CIM obtains ISO 9001:2008 certification for their processes and project management. The ISO Quality guidelines are checked and verified in annual audits. The ISO certification commits CIM to standardised project management. Standardised documentation for PROLAG®World is implemented as an instrument of development management and quality assurance.

  • In 2010, CIM adds more additional functions to their warehouse management software with the new Release 2.2: The integrated shipping system is enhanced with new interfaces, adding functionality for freight cost optimisation. As regards the storage and transport of hazardous goods, the new release of PROLAG®World provides the functions required under EU legislation.

  • 2011 CIM develops a complete (end-to-end) solution which interacts smoothly to control shuttles over the network: Optimisation parameters mean that waiting times for storage and retrieval transactions are considerably minimised and goods flows are accelerated.

  • 2012 CIM presents a new production template in Release 2.2.2, ensuring optimal production supply and disposal. A graphical traffic light system displays the raw material requirements at each machine.

  • 2012 CIM also opens subsidiaries in Berlin and Münster.

  • 2013 CIM presents a brand new product structure: As well as PROLAG®World Basic, there are additional product packages which are tailored to meet the requirements of various industry sectors: PROLAG®World Trade & Retail, PROLAG®World Production, PROLAG®World 3PL and PROLAG®World Health Care. Thanks to the online configurator, users can design their own personal WMS with just a few clicks.

  • 2014 The newly designed Business Intelligence Module is launched with its freely configurable dashboard.

  • 2015 CIM celebrates its 30th anniversary.

  • 2015 sees the opening of a fourth subsidiary, this time in Bad Säckingen.
