Pick and pack

Using pick and pack, you reduce your lead times by picking and packing in one step.

Pick and pack

Goods are put into the correct packing boxes when they are picked and the same packaging is used to dispatch the articles. For each order, the master data for the relevant articles is referenced to determine suitable, appropriately-sized packaging. The selection is based on the weight and volume of the article and the number of picks per print area. Pick and pack saves both time and resources: unnecessarily large boxes are a thing of the past.

The picking sequence can be configured variably. Guided by PROLAG®Go, staff usually pick large and heavy items first so that they land at the bottom of the box.

Small, delicate items are picked last so that they are placed at the top of the box. In order to determine the optimal picking sequence, each article is allocated to a crash class.

Benefits of pick and pack:

  • Appropriate package sizes requiring less padding material
  • Packaging is adapted to suit products
  • Saves time and resources
  • Reduces transportation costs
